The ADF is spearheading an initiative in partnership with the Dymally Institute at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Senator Smallwood to secure an appropriation of $250,000 for the fiscal year 2024/2025. This funding request arose following an examination of the Stop the Hate Grant designated for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in California. Our research, conducted in collaboration with UCLA, revealed significant underreporting of black immigrant representation in California. Additionally, data showed a concerning 22% increase in hate incidents targeting black individuals in 2022, a trend exacerbated by the upcoming 2024 election.
In response, the African Diaspora Foundation deems it imperative to allocate financial resources toward organizing community-based organizations and businesses representing black immigrants in California. This initiative aims to actively engage in the Stop the Hate Initiative, offering educational programs on hate awareness and connecting individuals with resources provided by the State of California for hate crime victims. Furthermore, ADF will sponsor events within the black community that promote diversity, fostering cross-cultural integration within the diaspora. Additionally, we will collaborate with black-owned media outlets to amplify our message and facilitate outreach in diverse communities.
