OUR PARTNERS

PARTNERS IN PEACE

In the pursuit of its goals, ADF has patterned a history of relationship building with individuals and non-profit organizations doing important work in the African diaspora. Because of the plethora of individual and collaborative efforts already making successful headway in Africa , it has become a central strategy of ADF to be a multi-faceted organization that collaborates with these progressive groups.

To this date, ADF has mobilized a coalition of national leaders and non-governmental organizations that are uniting to see the ADF mission successfully flourish. These include:

In 2002, ADF acquired a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) regarding plans to establish a Peace Center at UCLA that will serve as the foundation for Academic Peace Centers throughout the world. Presently ADF is negotiating with various departments as to the shape and form of the proposed institute.ADF has developed a working relationship with South Africa’s Deputy President, Mr. Jacob Zuma. His history of advocacy and activism for the progress of Africans in general has been a motivation for ADF as it carries a challenging mission. ADF is greatful to Mr. Zuma for his accomplishments and his counsel.EarthCare International, founded by Jermaine Jackson of the musically famous Jackson family, strives to make the world a better place by implementing global solutions that combat the problems of starvation, disease and homelessness. His plan calls for the construction of hospitals, homes, schools, powerplants, and wastewater treatment systems for those countries that are in need. Our shared mission is to work with the African Union, NEPAD and other parties interested in contributing to peace and development in Africa. The Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution is an institute located in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at California State University , Sacramento that draws upon the resources of a highly trained interdisciplinary team of faculty and conflict resolution experts committed to the Center’s mission. Thus, the Center offers training in mediation, negotiation and arbitration, and peace-building, peace-making and conciliation strategies; conducts conflict resolution program evaluations, and prepares and presents conferences/seminars and requests for proposals; and provides group facilitation advice, focus groups, mediation and arbitration, negotiation advice, and election observation/supervision services. Over the past five years, ADF has shared tremendous collaborations with the Rev. Dr. N.J. Tshawane Africa, CEO of the King-Luthuli Transformation Centre and Dr. Molefe Tsele the Secretary-General of the South African Council of Churches. KLTC has donated to ADF one floor of its multi-story building headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa for an ADF office and to implement a peace library and multimedia distance learning center.Mrs. Amina Titi Amina Abubakar, as the wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, has done much outreach to the needy of her country through her organization WOTCLEF (Women’s Trafficking and Child Labor Erradication Foundation). ADF has partnered with Mrs. Atiku in her mission to bring women and children out sex trafficking, by giving them marketable work skills and treating those infected with the HIV virus.PeaceWeb has a 22-year history as The National Conference on Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution (NCPCR). Eleven international conferences have been held in different parts of North America and brought together thousands of youth and adult peacemakers and conflict resolution practitioners who have inspired and challenged one another with peacebuilding stories, research, presentations, and performances. PeaceWeb’s mission is: to inspire all people throughout the world to find the peacemaker within and support them as they take part in activities that make peace; as well as to effectively link individuals and organizations to build a powerful force for peace.ADF is proud of the work and accomplishments of the Center for the Advancement of NonViolence. The mission of the organization is to build a culture of nonviolence and peace through education, research, advocacy and institutional transformation. Like ADF, they work to establish nonviolence as a way of life for the individual, a strategy for social change, and a foundation for a culture of peace. The center has created a curriculum called 64 Ways to Practice Non-Violence and it is being widely used in schools and organizations across the U.S. ADF plans to learn more from the success of this curriculum content and implementation. All As One (AAO) was created as a direct response to the critical dilemma of African children left orphaned, abandoned or destitute by AIDS, civil wars, poverty, and other hardships. Our work is in Africa – a continent that is often forgotten by many. We are also unique because we focus on the individual child. While there are many charity organizations that are “project” oriented, we provide very specific and life-changing assistance directly to a child or family. In Sierra Leone we have taken children off the streets in large enough numbers that the streets are now a different place.
